Features in the Mazda CX-5 that Make Life Easier in Winter

The Mazda CX-5 is a great vehicle to drive during a typical Canadian winter because it is equipped with many features that are engineered to keep occupants safe and warm when the temperatures drop and the roads ice over. Here are some of those features.

Standard heated seats and an affordable heated steering wheel

Every 2023 Mazda CX-5 comes standard with heated seats for the driver and front passenger which feature three levels of heating. This makes every winter drive more comfortable, no matter the outside temperature. In order to increase the driver’s comfort even further, a heated steering wheel is available on the CX-5. Unlike in many competing vehicles, the heated steering wheel is standard starting at the GS version, which is only the second model in the CX-5 lineup. This means that this desirable feature is available for thousands less than it would cost to get a heated steering wheel in most other compact SUVs on the market. To complete the package, heated rear seats are also available starting from the GT grade.

The Mazda App with remote start

The Mazda CX-5 can be started from anywhere via the Mazda App on the driver’s phone. By simply tapping a button on the screen, the engine of the CX-5 is started and the cabin begins to warm up without the driver having to step outside or even try to get closer to the vehicle. This is because the signal is sent via an internet connection instead of by radio frequencies, as is the case for traditional remotes. This means that the interior of the vehicle will be nice and warm and the windows will be defrosted once the driver gets in the CX-5.

The standard i-Activ AWD

Every 2023 Mazda CX-5 is equipped with the competent i-Activ all-wheel drive system that makes driving on ice or snow safer by providing better traction on slippery surfaces. This system works by constantly monitoring each wheel’s speed as well as the actual movement of the vehicle to determine how much power it should send to every wheel. This makes the CX-5 more efficient while also increasing its capabilities.
