Mazda announces three new sport utility vehicles coming in 2022
October 08 2021,
Mazda made a significant announcement this week, promising three new sport utility vehicles for the Canadian market starting with the all-new Mazda CX-50 which we will see as early as next month. Two new midsize SUVs complete with an available plug-in hybrid engine will be introduced subsequently.
The new Mazda CX-50 coming in November
The first model in this lineup of new SUVs that we will see is the new Mazda CX-50 which will be introduced to the market as early as next month. It will then begin production in January and we should see on Canadian roads by spring.
The Mazda CX-50 will be closely related to the brand-new Mazda CX-5 which was redesigned last month, but it is actually based on the Mazda CX-30. It promises to deliver enhanced all-wheel drive capabilities while also offering owners better off-road performance.
The Mazda CX-90 and Mazda CX-70
From there Mazda will introduce two new vehicles to the market, the Mazda CX-90 and Mazda CX-70. We should see both next year. They will be new mid-size SUVs that will be built on a brand-new architecture and Mazda says they will also offer a brand-new straight-six turbocharged engine. A plug-in hybrid powertrain is also said to be in the works.
The main difference between the two is that the Mazda CX-90 will be a three-row SUV while the Mazda CX-70 will have two rows.
We will keep you posted with any new developments, and we can’t wait to see the new Mazda CX-50 next month!
