Three Reasons to Consider a Pre-Owned Mazda6

The Mazda6 is one of the most well-designed, well-engineered and unique mid-size sedans to ever have come from the Hiroshima manufacturer and with Mazda ending production of the 6 as of the 2021 model year, here are just a few reasons why you’ll want to scour the pre-owned market for one of these beauties.

Styling Chops

The Mazda6 has always been recognizable; it was one of the first vehicles in the segment to start using quasi-vertical headlamps lenses while many were still horizontal; it has a stance and a roofline for the sedan that was almost four-door coupe-like in its application (more so if you find a hatchback model) and it always had a stance that was just low and squat enough to look good without impinging too much into interior space. If you wanted to be more unique still, the first-generation car (2003-2008) was also available as a swanky wagon.

Power Player

While originally available with either a 2.3-litre four-cylinder or a 3.0-litre size cylinder engine, the Mazda6 did graduate powertrain-wise over the years. The first big leap came in 2005 with the arrival of the Mazdaspeed6 that not only features a turbocharged four-cylinder engine for the first time, but AWD as well. It also had a manual transmission and with it, one of the earliest no-luxury sports sedans the Canadian market had ever seen.

Signature Series

In more recent years, you were able to take your Mazda6 from a grocery getter to a luxury cruiser with the Signature model. It provides Nappa leather seating that’s heated both front and back, 11-speaker Bose audio, standard turbocharged four-cylinder good for 250 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque and a chassis that’s a great mix of performance and comfort. Add a steering rack that benefits from Mazda’s penchant for lively, direct steering and you have a mid-size sedan that reaches for the stars.
